Students will receive a kahoot link at the end of each week to assess their knowledge of the scientists. Scores are available for immediate release after completion of kahoot activity.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
In this flex class, students will learn about scientists in various science fields, including per week: Week 1- Biology Week 2- Genetics Week 3- Physics Week 4- Ancient Scientists Week 5- Chemistry Week 6- Geology Week 7- Mathematicians Week 8- Space Scientists included will be famous scientists throughout history and will include men and women and their contributions to science. Each week, students will receive weekly videos, along with suggested supplemental videos from youtube (when applicable). Students will also receive weekly activities to engage learning. These may vary from matching scientists to their scientific contribution to reading passages. Assignments will be available in the form of handout and digital when available. The weekly format will be as follows: Video- students will receive an instructional video regarding the science field of the week Questions- students will receive daily questions each week (5 questions per week) for engagement in the classroom Activity- students will receive weekly activities to increase engagement in concept including readings, website interactions, and more Assessment- students will receive weekly kahoot games to assess mastery of scientists
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the many different scientists in many science disciplines and their contributions to science. Students will learn about when the scientists was alive, what changes they made, and more. Topics will include both male and female scientific contributions.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Science fields will be discussed including how scientists changed science. Brief mentioning of many topics, including evolution will be discussed, but not in depth as to the principle of evolution.
Supply List
Students will be provided hand-outs for notes to keep for their possession each week, along with printable resources for activities. Students will also need a pencil to complete activities.

I am a 5th grade teacher having taught elementary science for 2 years, and have taught middle school science for 8 years from 6-8th grade. I am licensed as a science teacher from 6-12 grade, with a Masters in Science Education. I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention.
