Fall STEM Challenges (Flex Class)

Fall is in the air! It is one of my favorite times of year. The leaves changing colors, the smells, the cooler air, everything about it is just… wonder-FALL! 

In this 4 week course students will complete 4 different FALL Themed STEM Projects. But what is STEM? STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Learners will be presented with a weekly challenge. Students will get to be creative to complete a challenge on their own and report their findings back to the class on the classroom page. Learners will share pictures or videos of their STEM project.

This is a FLEX class which means students are able to work on their own time. There are NO LIVE MEETINGS. Even though there are no live classes, interaction will be encouraged throughout the class. Learners will have the opportunity to share their solutions via pictures, videos, or simply discussions. Students are encouraged to comment on each other’s creation in a positive way. Sharing ideas and other solutions along the way. 

Each week students will get a list of materials they can use as well as a “Challenge Guide” worksheet that can be printed. Along with the worksheet I will provide a short video explaining the challenge and give an EXAMPLE. This is an idea, not what they should build. They may take parts of the example to spark their own creativity, but students are encouraged to come up with a new design on their OWN.

Week 2: Apple Boats
Week 3: Pumpkin Picker
Week 4: Pumpkin Tower/Structure

These are such fun STEM challenges that really get you in the Fall Spirit. Kids have so much fun getting creative and building their solution to each challenge.
