In this one-time class students will write a very short story using a prompt and make their story come to life with a LEGO® build. The story prompt will be different, so you can try the class multiple times if you'd like!
Class experience
This class will work on creativity, both through writing and building with LEGO® bricks! Students will use a handout, featuring a story prompt, to write their own short story. An example may be something like, "You were diving down deep into the ocean when all of a sudden..." The second half of the class will be a LEGO build where students make a scene from the story they wrote. I have over 15 years of experience teaching elementary aged students, and hold both a Ph.D. and a M.Ed in education. I also have current licensure to teach PreK through sixth grade. My educational background includes extensive training in teaching core academic subjects, gifted/creative logic, and all manners of pedagogical methods.
-A one-page handout will be provided in the classroom upon enrollment, or your student may just use lined paper. -Your own, personal LEGO® brick collection (enough for a small build). If you do not own any bricks, consider purchasing them from the company at https://www.lego.com. -pencil
