In this seven-week FLEX class, we will grow a fall garden together via pre-recorded videos and classroom interactions. The students will learn how to grow fall crops from seeds, how to manage their crops as they grow, and will get to taste their crops at the end of our class via pre-recorded videos. This class is taught in English.
Students will gain confidence, understanding, and respect for gardening and growing their own food.
Children will need to maintain their garden during the 7 weeks in order to have a successful garden.
Soil, seeds, a container for seedlings such as small cups or egg cartons, water source, containers for gardening (optional if you are growing in the ground), trowel (can be optional or substituted), gardening gloves (optional), printables provided for weekly activities, journal or multiple pages to document garden changes, wooden spoons (can be found at dollar tree) paint, modge podge, paint brushes, and other supplies that can be found around the house.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be aware of any allergies your child may have to soil, seeds, or crops that are suggested. We will use small gardening tools that may be sharp and require close adult supvervision.
Planting and gardening times are based on The Old Farmer's Almanac 2022 as well as guidance that can be found on the back of most seed packets.
