Description
Class Experience
In this 8 week class, students will learn and participate in all the FALL! Engaging in art, crafts. music, stories, making fall treats, conducting science experiments and nature studies, every week will be focused on a different fall themed activity! Week 1: Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall! This week, we will read together the gorgeously illustrated Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn book by Kenard Pak. Then we will paint four trees, one for each season, using an art technique called pointillism....
Supplies needed listed separately by week. Printables will be made available before the start of class! Week 1: Poster paints in white, green, yellow, orange, red 10-20 Q-tips 2 rubber bands Four Tree printable Week 2: 1 or 2 apples Paring knife Plate or pie pan Caramel (ice cream caramel syrup works best, caramel dip works ok, too) Toppings of choice… mini chocolate chips, coconut flakes, pecans or other nuts, raisins, pumpkin seeds, etc Plate and napkin Week 3: Poster paints in red, green, brown, white Paper plate Paintbrush Paper (with some substance to it… craft paper. watercolor paper construction paper works ok, prnter paper may fall apart) Apple Paring knife (or apple cut in half before class Week 4: 2-4 Clear glass jars, cups or small clear vase 2-4 Fresh celery stalks with leaves, preferably the lighter leafier stalks near the center Water Food Coloring Science Experiment printable Week 5: Leaves student collected, all sizes and types Nuts or seeds, little pinecones, acorns, etc Paper Glue or glue sticks Pencil or Marker Week 6: ⅓ cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 3 tablespoons butter, melted ⅓ cup chopped walnuts or pecans 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced into 8 (1/2-inch) slices 1 (8-ounce) can Pillsbury Original crescent rolls Bowl, spatula, measuring cups and spoons Cookie sheet Parchment paper Pot mitt Spatula Plate, fork, napkin Week 7: Pumpkin printable Clear Contact Paper Scissors Scotch Tape Kite paper or tissue paper in orange, brown, and green Week 8: Drawing Paper Crayons or colored pencils
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Depending on student’s age, skill level in the kitchen, and your personal comfort, a student may need assistance for using a paring knife and taking baked goods in and out of the oven.
