CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS & OTHER INFORMATION

✔️ Students will be asked to raise their hands before asking questions or expressing themselves. If I happen to miss that your child raised their hand, I am deeply sorry. I do my very best to pay attention to each learner during class to call on them when they have something they want to share. However, they may not be able to share every little thing! Our friends have SO MUCH to share and we don't have ample time for them to share everything. BUT I encourage parents to send classroom messages if their learner has something they want to share with me. I am always on alert for messages from my students and parents.

✔️ Students will also be muted at specific times during class time to cut back on background noises and to ensure every learner has the optimal learning experience with minimal sound distractions. I will call on learners to unmute themselves to share something. Parents are encouraged to teach their child how to unmute their microphone or the parent should be close by to help the child if need be.

✔️ All learners will be required to show themselves on camera at the beginning of class for me to verify them for the safety of all learners in the online classroom.

✔️ Prepare a Dedicated Learning Space for your Child

Make sure your child is set up in a comfortable learning space where they also have room to get up from their seat to move around when needed. Keep their space clear of distracting toys that will not be used during lesson time. Make sure the space is clean and only contains the materials we will be using during class time together.

✔️ Familiarize Yourself with the Outschool Classroom

If this is your first class on Outschool, I encourage you to take a look around the classroom (after you enroll in the class) to see where things are before our first class together. Make sure you are familiar with how to send me a private message and how to post publicly in the classroom (they are different!). If you have any questions or concerns about any technical issues, please reach out to the Outschool Support Team who will be more than happy to help you get going and to answer your questions.

I encourage parents to keep in contact with me via Outschool with any questions and concerns as it relates to their child's online experience in my classroom. If your experience is anything but a perfect 10, please reach out to me before leaving a review so I can do my very best to resolve any issues or concerns related to my class and your child's learning experience.

If you would like to learn more about this class, please send me a message and I will promptly reply to your questions and concerns.

Hi and Welcome to Ms. Tessa’s Classroom!

I'm Ms. Tessa, and I am so excited to meet you! I am a teacher-author, 13-year veteran teacher, and a homeschool mama of 11 years. I have 5+ years of online teaching experience with grades kindergarten-5th grade. I specialize in literacy education and am the founder and head of school at a Texas private school.

I am so very passionate about what I do as an educational leader. I believe that language and literacy is the foundation for all learning; thus, it is imperative that your child experiences a quality, literacy and language arts education to set them up to succeed in all other subject areas.

My Educational Background and Aspirations:
I have a Child Development Associate, an Associates in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Science in Counseling Foundations, a TESOL certification, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in special education, religion, and general k-12 education.

My ultimate goal is to help children become confident readers, speakers and writers. We will grow together, learn together, jump over hurdles together, and reach goals together.

Fun Stuff about Me:
I love singing. I love spending time with my family. I love watermelon and cherries in the summer. I love listening to music and dancing at random times during the day (even when my kids think I'm weird and walk away). Sometimes I love long car rides, but only if the kids are on their best behavior.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you in my online classroom!

Ms. Tessa
