Class Experience

Welcome to our Fairy Tale Remix Camp, a magical fairy tale writing class designed especially for elementary students! In this engaging and fun five-day camp, young storytellers will embark on a journey to create their own enchanting fairy tales by remixing well-known classics. Through interactive activities, collaborative discussions, and imaginative exercises, students will learn the structure of fairy tales and the creative process of writing.

Lesson 1:
Discovering the Magic
 Introduction to Fairy Tales. Brief overview of classic fairy tales and their elements. Discussion on the magic of storytelling. Exploration of various characters, settings, and objects in fairy tales. Group brainstorming to select key elements for our own tales. Introduction to the basic structure of a fairy tale.

Lesson 2:
Transforming Characters and Settings
 Character Makeover- Discussion on character traits and archetypes. Drawing our potential characters. Developing the characters of our fairy tales. 
Magical Settings- Exploration of different settings in fairy tales. Group discussion on how settings impact the story. Create maps of our fairy tale worlds.

Lesson 3:
Crafting Enchanting Plots
 Plotting our Adventures- Introduction to the three-act structure of a story. Group brainstorming for the main plot points of our fairy tales. Discussion on plot twists and unexpected events in fairy tales. Drafting the beginning of our tales making sure to add a plot twist to our own tales.

Lesson 4:
Crafting Magical Narratives
 Happily Ever After- Examining the endings of fairy tales. Group discussion on how to end our fairy tales. Continuing to work on our tales and drafting the ending of our tales.
