Class Experience

In this highly interactive class, students will fall in love with the fairy tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Students will start with a picture walk of the classic fairy tale, The Three Billy Goats Gruff which teaches emergent readers to use pictures as clues to aid in comprehension and activate prior knowledge. Following the picture walk, students will listen to a read-a-loud of the classic fairy tale, The Three Billy Goats Gruff identifying characters, setting and other key details. Following the story, students will build a simple bridge of their own and practice showing different prepositions and speaking in prepositional phrases with their characters and bridge. If time allows, we will sequence the story with pictures showing the beginning, middle and end of the story.

***There will be a puppet template uploaded to the class once you have enrolled. We will be using these to tell the story. We will not be assembling the puppets in class. They will need to be made prior to class.

Learning Goals

-With prompting and support, students will answer questions about key details in a text and identify characters, setting and major events in the story.
