A letter grade will not be given. Please reach out if this is important to you and we can discuss options. Students will receive a pdf of their final drafts at the end of the class that may be easily printed and bound.Grading

US Grade 9 - 12
In this 15 week class, your learner will continue to learn methods and stylistic techniques through the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) curriculum for Lessons 16-29. This class is highly interactive during the class time and throughout the week. The learner needs to be able write a simple sentence and read fairly independently. If you are concerned if your learner is at the proper reading level, please message me and I can send a sample for you to review. You will need to purchase Fables, Myths and Fairy Tales Writing Lessons Student book. You will also need The Student Resource Packet which is a free download when you purchase the student book from the Institute for Excellence in Writing website. Learners are expected to •participate in class by answering review questions •brainstorm along with classmates •complete the assigned homework •turn in rough drafts to the teacher no later than the day before class either typed or nicely handwritten •make corrects to rough draft and turn in a final draft The learner can expect the following from the teacher: •a detailed syllabus after enrollment •feedback and corrections on rough drafts •response to questions and concerns •availability for extra help when needed The class will follow the scope and sequence outlined on page 8 of the student textbook. Week 1: Lesson 16 Week 2: Lesson 17 Week 3: Lesson 18 Week 4: Lesson 19 Week 5: Lesson 20 Week 6: Lesson 21 Week 7: Lesson 22 Week 8: Lesson 23 Week 9: Lesson 24 Week 10: Lesson 25 Week 11: Lesson 26 Week 12: Lesson 27 Week 13: Lesson 28 Week 14: Lesson 29 Week 15: Make up day/ if make up day is not need it will be options attendance day for learners to read papers written throughout the class. We will also have celebration games.
Learning Goals
The student will learn how to created a keyword outline that enables them to create a rough draft. The student will learn stylistic techniques to create a solid rough draft that is interesting to read with varied sentence structure.
