Participants will: -Learn how to make beads from paper -Learn basic jewelry design. -Use fine motor skills to trace, cut with scissors, roll paper, use a paintbrush, string beads, tie knots -Discuss a theme or topic of the week -Follow guidelines for speaker/listener responsibilities during group discussions
These are general materials that will be used for each class. In addition, class-specific materials will be posted in the classroom one week prior to the class: - Flat work surface that is okay to get messy and easy to clean up (i.e. plastic placemat) - Bead Template (a printable file attachment will be distributed 1 week before each class) - Various types of paper: Magazines, Wrapping Paper, Junk Mail, Flyers, etc. - Pencil or Pen - Ruler - Scissors - Colorful markers or highlighters - At least 1 of the following: Plastic straw, bamboo skewer, chop stick, knitting needle, tooth pick - White school glue - Glue stick (optional) - Small mixing container (plastic cup or small food container) - 1 oz of water - Paintbrush - Drying rack (suggestions: tall cup, egg carton, floral foam) - Wet wipes or damp cloth/sponge for clean up
