Meet new friends and learn how to make beads from paper in a salon-like atmosphere where participants can socialize while they work on their projects. Participants will design a name bracelet for themselves or for a gift. Patient step-by-step instructions by the educator will have the learners making 2 types of beads from paper. - Learn the history of beads and their importance to humans. Cut, roll and seal paper to make 2 kinds of beads. How to add embellishments to make beads unique. How to design and assemble a stretch bracelet. Socialize with peers.

2 files available upon enrollmentNOTE: Class specific materials will be posted on each day's classroom page one week prior to the start date of the camp. -Cutting templates (see file attachments) -Work surface that is okay to get glue on (plastic place mat, old cutting board, wax paper, etc.) -Any colorful paper: Magazines, Sale flyers, Junk Mail, Take-out Menus, Wrapping Paper, etc. -Pencil or pen -Ruler -Scissors (longer scissors are ideal, but not necessary) -One or more of the following: knitting needle, bamboo skewer, chopstick) -Colorful Highlighters or Markers -Ultra-fine tip permanent marker (for writing letters of name on beads) -White glue (a must) -Glue stick (optional) -Water (small amount, 1/2 oz) -Small mixing container (plastic cup or food container) -Paintbrush -Pencil holder or similar container as a drying rack -Extra-fine loose glitter or glitter glue (optional) -Round plastic lid (for design planning) -Clear Nail Polish (optional) -Damp sponge, wet wipes or paper towels (to wipe sticky hands and clean-up afterward) -Stretch Cord - 1 mm size -20 Spacer beads - 4 mm size or larger (perler beads work well as spacers)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Participants will be required to use scissors in a safe manner to cut paper.
