In this two day class, students will learn all about 10 different types of extreme weather/natural disasters. They will participate in two science experiments (creating a tornado and tectonic plates) and play two group games.

Class Experience
In this two day class (once a week), students will be introduced to 10 different types of extreme weather. Each class will begin with a vibrant presentation, introducing 5 types of weather/natural disasters. Students will be encouraged to participate in discussions and ask questions. Next, the students will use their new knowledge to participate in a game of "Name That Weather." Finally, the class will end with a science experiment related to the lesson. Students will learn about 10 types of extreme weather/natural disasters, participate in 2 science experiments, and be able to play "Name That Weather."
I am a certified elementary school teacher. I taught science for 5 years; including a big unit on weather each year.
**Participation in the science experiments is optional. Students can watch me conduct the experiments if they do not have the following supplies. Week 1: Tornado in a jar Empty, rounded glass jar with a lid(pickle jar/jam jar.) Water food coloring spoon Week 2: Edible tectonic plates Graham crackers (or any type of square/rectangular cookie/cracker) Whipped cream/icing/peanut butter (anything soft and spreadable) plate spoon
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed based on their participation.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No guidance is required, though students may need a bit of assistance with the science experiments at the end of the classes.
