Homework
1-2 hours per week. Each week there will be two homework projects. One will be 3-5 questions - these opinion and thought based answers. There will also be 3-5 project options - these could be a movie to watch, short 2-3 paragraph research topic, or a small project to complete.Class Experience

WELCOME to Extraordinary People from History! In this 8 week class, we will explore a brief biography of their life, the society and culture that shaped them, and what contributions they made in their field. We will discuss how their lives would be different if they had been born in a different time and culture. Topics that we will cover are: Week 1 - Bill Gates - American Entrepreneur and Businessman Week 2 - Alexander the Great - Greek King Week 3 - Elon Musk - Technology Entrepreneur Week 4 - Hans Christen Anderson - Dutch Author Week 5 - Steve Jobs - American Entrepreneur and Businessman Week 6 - Neil Armstrong - American Astronaut Week 7 - Steven Spielberg - American film maker Week 8 - Ludwig Van Beethoven - German Composer Each week, by Wednesday evening (9pm PST) - -I will email each student a link that weeks lecture and assignments. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account that is embedded into the Outschool classroom page. - Assignments will consist of discussion and essay questions, short research topics, Youtube videos, and worksheets. These will be posted on the classroom page. - In my flex classes, each family can determine the level of participation in the course. - Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom. -I will check in with each student several times during the week to check on progress of the homework, address any questions, or to engage in a discussion about the topic covered. Each student is encouraged to message (through the Outschool classroom) me anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class. - Each week, there may be additional articles, videos, or pictures that will be posted to the classroom page to engage students in open conversations about that weeks topic. -Please message me before the start of class if you have any questions. Learning Goals
Students will learn about eight different people from history. They will learn about different time periods, different obstacles people overcame, and how people achieved their goals.

Parental Guidance
This class will utilize Youtube videos for sharing of lecture videos, as well as supplemental lessons. All Youtube videos are embedded into the Outschool platform. This class may also utilize Kahoot. Learners will be given a direct link and game pin to play.

I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I have a passion for history, organization, reading, and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary.
I am also an Outschool ACE Educator, which means that I continually seek out ways to improve my teaching skills and knowledge, as well as the learner experience. Some of the seminars/courses that I have attended in the past are: Foundations for Teaching and Learning About Native Americans; The Presence and Absence of Asian America: What Truths Lie Beyond the Headlines; Using the “Diary of Anne Frank” to Amplify Students’ Voices; Painting a Just Picture – Art and Activism.
