Class Experience

Art is all about expression, and animals have just the faces for learning to draw. In this ongoing class, we will practice drawing animals from reference photos and maybe learn a little bit about them too! Each week we will draw a new animal from one of the animal kingdoms. We will begin class each day with some discussion about drawing basics such as line, shape, value, modeling, creating texture, blending, and shading. Then we will jump right into the daily project. This class is taught in English.

Students will learn and practice lines, shapes, values, modeling, texture, blending, shading, and how to use drawing utensils to create realistic drawings.

I have had my AA in studio art for four years, and I have been teaching intermittently over the last 13 years. I began teaching art last year after I led a paint tutorial for a sixth grade birthday party that was almost cancelled because of the pandemic. I really enjoyed it and became excited about the idea of sharing art and creativity with students. I love both the science and subjectiveness of art--I think there's a lot we can learn from it, and I can't wait to share it with your learners!

~Pencils (preferably 2H, 2B, 4B, 6B, and 8B drawing pencils, but scholastic pencils are acceptable): $6+

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
