This 2 week class is designed to guide you through the entire process of opinion writing, from brainstorming ideas to polishing your final draft. Course Objectives: Pre-Writing Techniques: Learn effective brainstorming strategies to generate ideas, organize thoughts, and outline your argument. Rough Draft Development: Practice articulating your opinions clearly and providing evidence to support your claims. Editing and Revision: Master the art of self-editing and peer review to enhance the quality of your writing. Explore techniques for revising content, improving sentence structure, and ensuring clarity and coherence in your writing. Final Draft Polishing: Polish your opinion piece to perfection, paying attention to grammar, punctuation, and overall presentation. Learn formatting guidelines and strategies for creating a visually appealing and professional-looking final draft. Emphasize the importance of attention to detail in making your writing shine. Utilizing Transition Words: Understand the significance of transition words and phrases in guiding the reader through your argument smoothly. Course Structure: Self-Paced Learning: This course offers flexibility, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Each module consists of instructional materials, interactive exercises, and writing prompts to reinforce your understanding and skills. In this lesson, we will review what an opinion piece is, brainstorm ideas, and begin our rough draft. Lesson 3:

In this lesson, we will review our writing checklist and go through the editing and revising process. Lesson 4:

Approved third party tools will be used:
Nearpod- for interactive lessons, games and quizzes.
Google Docs- for sharing work with teacher and receiving feedback from teacher.
YouTube- to share relevant short videos that highlight the skill we're working on.
Pre-Requisites
Students should know all letters and sounds and be able to write their letters.

Hi everyone! Welcome to class! I am Miss Kate. I have 15+ years of teaching experience with students ages 2-14 years old. I am passionate about early childhood education and building the foundation for life long learning. My classes will be engaging and focus on a variety of topics including early literacy, early math and life skills. I live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and 3 (yes, three) big dogs!
I believe in engaging and playful learning and will teach my classes in a fun and interactive way including songs, digital & interactive games, and lots of interaction and opportunities for engagement.
I am certified to teach K-8 Elementary, K-12 Special Education and Early Childhood Education. In addition, I have a certificate in Child Psychology from Penn Foster, a certificate in Autism Studies from Arizona State University and a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Arizona State University. I love to teach and look forward to meeting your child!
