Parental Guidance
Parents are responsible to ensure that students have proper nutrition and hydration before, during, and after each session. Students may experience great fatigue, loss of fluids, and some soreness from using muscles they may not have used. As with any physical activity, students and parents should consult their physician before starting any significant physical activity such as this. Yearly regular physical examinations are recommended for students before entering this and other robust sports workouts. Students with asthma, trouble breathing, heart conditions, or other conditions that are exacerbated during robust physical activity should additionally seek the direction of certified medical professionals prior to starting.
Parents should monitor the physical environment to ensure that no sharp objects, falling hazards, holes, poles, etc. are present that could adversely impact the student doing the drills of this course. Parent supervision is advised to ensure students are cared for immediately if they become dizzy, disoriented, dehydrated, or otherwise impaired from the intensity of the workouts.
Likewise, since most will do this course outside in a driveway, school-yard, or another outdoor environment, parents should assist students in planning for weather. Do not allow the student to perform the activities outside if they could put themselves in danger due to lightning, severe wind, hail, or other factors.
Supply List
Each Student will need a regular-sized men's basketball (Size 29.5 for those 12 and up 28.5 below age 12). Ideally, each student would do this at a basketball court (indoor or outdoor) but each student should follow guidelines for their area with regard to shelter in place and/or social distancing orders in light of COVID-19. If Weather is inclement, students can do in a garage, basement, or otherwise acceptable hard floor surface free from hazards as permitted by parents. (Please see Parental Guidance Section for Safety).
