Class Experience

Students will understand how plastic consumption affects the natural environment around them. 
Students will be able to talk about the impact and importance of "Reduce" in the Three R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). 
Students will explore the three primary areas of waste stream impact. 
I served on the Ocean Plastic Pollution Symposium teacher cohort at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in the 2017/18 school year. I support the mission of the MBA and enjoy bringing core concepts to students near and far. 
Students will be asked to observe and collect information about their current plastic consumption. This information will feed into a graphic organizer that students will use to determine the best way to reduce their plastic consumption. 
Handouts will be provided in session 1. Access to Flipgrid after each class. Notebook or writing paper and favorite writing tool (pencil, pen, marker) Critical Thinking Skills
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Pre and Post assessment via FlipGrid will be assigned after class 1, 2 and 3. 
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will post thoughts and ideas and share project outcomes with the class. 
We will use Flipgrid to share ideas, thoughts and brainstorms.
