Description
Class Experience
Students will learn sight words, mathematical skills, and awareness of ocean life. These activities are designed to help preschool children be kindergarten ready.
Fish Craft: a paper plate, small circles cut out of different colored construction paper (about 20, 2 inches in diameter), glue, extra sheet of construction paper, black marker Sand Tracing for Sight Words: a small tray with sand that covers the bottom (not too deep) Seashells if you would like to share these with the class (optional- not required) Playdough Fish Game: Playdough, beads or small objects to count (these will be going on top of the playdough), paper and pencil or dry erase board with dry erase marker (practicing numbers and math symbols)
I will informally assess each child and give parents a report within 24 hours of our class. This will mostly cover writing, math skills, and sight word knowledge.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
One of our activities involves playdough. Playdough may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease. Any substitution for playdough is welcomed in this class.
Pictures and videos are from a personal visit to an aquarium.
