Description

Class Experience

Students will have a basic understanding of anatomy and physiology of the human body.
I am a Certified Child Life Specialist and have experience working in the hospital setting with children. As part of my Bachelor's degree program I took Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology. Part of the role of a child life specialist is to help children understand medical procedures and tests by using developmentally appropriate language. I have been teaching science to preschool and elementary students at our homeschool coop for the past 4.5 years and have been teaching science classes on Outschool for the past year.  
Weekly handouts to complete and post on the classroom or send though private message.

Handouts will be posted weekly on the classroom. Weekly supplies - Crayons or colored pencils, pencil, scissors, glue or glue stick. Week 1- Black construction paper, white crayon, Q-tips (Post a photo of your X-ray craft on the classroom) Week 2 - 5 plastic straws, stapler, string, tape, cardstock or cardboard (Post a photo of your hand model) Week 3 - marshmallow, toothpick, jar or small glass, balloon, 2 plastic straws, water (red food coloring optional) cookie sheet for underneath heart pump experiment so table doesn't get wet (Post a video of your heart pump experiment working) Week 4 - 2 ziplock bags or paper lunch bags, 2 plastic straws, tape (preferably masking tape or duct tape), clay or play dough (Post of video of you using your lung project) Week 5 - large ziplock bag, 2 crackers, clear soda (Post a photo of your stomach experiment) Week 6 - iodine, cornstartch, water, ziploc bag, tupperware bowl (Post before and after photos of your experiment) Week 7 - handouts provided, 1 pipe cleaner, 5 gummy and 5 hard life savers (cheerios or noodles), 5-6 colors of play doh (Show us your brain! Post a phot of your play doh brain on the classroom) Week 8 - Kahoot
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Weekly kahoot games and handouts.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Play doh may contain wheat for those with an allergy, some projects may require parental guidance that involve scissors or a stapler
