This week: Land of the Stone Dragon The Dragon Masters book series is full of diverse people, places, and dragons. Many of these fantastic places have been based on real world locations. Many of the dragons have been drawn from real world mythology. And many of the characters have been created to be an example of real world people. In this class we will explore the real world places the Dragon Masters' settings are based on and compare them with the descriptions used in the Dragon Masters' books. We will learn about geographical landmarks, ecosystems, and cultural icons. We will also learn about the cultural mythology of dragons and compare it to the Dragon Master dragons we know and love. As we explore, we will also build our own map using printable sheets that we will cut, paste, color and key to the world of the Dragon Masters. Each map sheet will encompass multiple areas of the world, so learners will end up with all of the map components even if they do not attend every meeting. Learners will need: -access to a printer -scissors -glue or glue sticks -crayons, colored pencils, or markers -a sheet of blue poster board Here is the planned timeline (please note, we will occasionally stop map building to read the latest installment in the dragon masters series) : This week: Land of the Stone Dragon Next week: Island of the Lava Dragon Island of the Sea Dragon Land of the Wind Dragon Land of the Flower Dragon Land of the Shadow Dragon Land of the Light Dragon Land of the Star Dragon Land of the Crystal Dragon Land of the Ghost Dragon First week: Kingdom of Emperor Song Far North Lands Aragon Ifri Gallia Lair of the Gold Dragon Land of the Spring Dragon Land of the Time Dragon Land of the Sound Dragon
