We will be building a map of the Dragon Masters worldClass Experience
US Grade 2 - 3
Intermediate Level
The Dragon Masters book series is full of diverse people, places, and dragons. Many of these fantastic places have been based on real world locations. Many of the dragons have been drawn from real world mythology. And many of the characters have been created to be an example of real world people. In this class we will explore the real world places the Dragon Masters' settings are based on and compare them with the descriptions used in the Dragon Masters' books. We will learn about geographical landmarks, ecosystems, and cultural icons. We will also learn about the cultural mythology of dragons and compare it to the Dragon Master dragons we know and love. As we explore, we will also build our own map using printable sheets that we will cut, paste, color and key to the world of the Dragon Masters. Each map sheet will encompass multiple areas of the world, so learners will end up with all of the map components even if they do not attend every meeting. Learners will need: -access to a printer -scissors -glue or clue sticks -crayons, colored pencils, or markers -a sheet of blue poster board Here is the planned timeline (please note, we will occasionally stop map building to read the latest installment in the dragon masters series) : FRIDAYS: Dec 9th - 15th: Bracken Dec 16th - 22nd: Land of Pyramids Dec 23rd - 29th: Kingdom of Emperor Song Dec 30th - Jan 5th: Aragon Jan 6th - 12th: Far North Lands Jan 13th - 19th: Ifri Jan 20th - 26th: Gallia Jan 27th - Feb 2nd: Lair of the Gold Dragon Feb 3rd - 9th: Land of the Spring Dragon Feb 10th - 16th: Land of the Time Dragon Feb 17th - 23rd: Land of the Sound Dragon Feb 24th - March 2nd: Land of the Stone Dragon March 3rd - 9th: Island of the Lava Dragon March 10th - 16th: Island of the Sea Dragon Miss Robin is on vacation March 17th - 23rd March 24th - 30th: Land of the Wind Dragon March 31st - April 6th: Land of the Flower Dragon April 7th - 13th: Land of the Shadow Dragon April 14th - 20th: Land of the Light Dragon April 21st - 27th: Land of the Star Dragon April 28th - May 4th: Land of the Crystal Dragon May 5th - 11th: Land of the Ghost Dragon WEDNESDAYS Jan 20th - 26th: Bracken Jan 27th - Feb 2nd: Land of Pyramids Feb 3rd - 9th: Kingdom of Emperor Song Feb 10th - 16th: Aragon Feb 17th - 23rd: Far North Lands Feb 24th - March 2nd: Ifri March 3rd - 9th: Gallia March 10th - 16th: Lair of the Gold Dragon Miss Robin is on vacation March 17th - 23rd: March 24th - 30th: Land of the Spring Dragon March 31st - April 6th: Land of the Time Dragon April 7th - 13th: Land of the Sound Dragon April 14th - 20th: Land of the Stone Dragon April 21st - 27th: Island of the Lava Dragon April 28th - May 4th: Island of the Sea Dragon May 5th - 11th: Land of the Wind Dragon May 12th - 18th: Land of the Flower Dragon
