Description
Class Experience
By the end of the six classes, students would have learned the basics about the following: 1) Wildlife - 15 different animals that can be found in The Amazon Rainforest (some of which are solely found in this area). We will learn what they eat, behaviours, and fascinating facts of these creatures. In addition, we will also learn about some fauna. 2) Biodiversity and species richness 3) Threats - We will have conversations about what threats The Amazon Rainforest is facing and what people are doing to help conserve this amazing place.
I have a degree in Zoology and education and am a very well versed traveler. I have also worked with some of the animals we will discuss in this course!
Optional handouts and questions to promote information retention will be provided for each class. In addition, an optional task will be presented. Learners who choose to do this will get an outline regarding the task as well as feedback upon completion. A snapshot of the task is the creation of a writing piece (one or more paragraphs), a poster or a presentation about their favourite learned species.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
