This ongoing class explores the 11 major body systems of the human body in a visual manner. This class will cover the muscular, skeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine, nervous, integumentary, reproductive, and immune systems as learners create an interactive notebook. This class is geared to the middle school years, but older and younger learners with an interest in the human body are welcome to join. What is an interactive notebook? An interactive notebook is a notebook that allows learners to visualize Science concepts. Learners will be able to color, take notes, and interact with the notebook as they use it was a resource in the future. What topics are covered? This is ongoing class, so each class is an independent class. Learners will learn about one body system a week. During class, we will cover the function of they system and the organs that are involved in each system. Because this is an ongoing class, your learner is welcome to join or leave at any time. Each class is stand alone class so they will not need the prior class to understand the lesson. How is the class structured? The class will start with a brief introduction time and ice breakers. Then we will work on assembling the interactive notebook page and going over the material. At the end of class, we will play a Kahoot game to apply what we learned. A Kahoot account is not required for this class. How do you teach the reproductive system? Great question, I teach the reproductive system from a factual medical standpoint. We will cover the names of the parts, but we will not cover sexual reproduction. Learner and parental discretion of learner maturity is advised for this class.
