The students will gain a broader perspective on the space program including the upcoming Artemis missions to the moon, the new Perseverance Mars Rover, the discovery of exoplanets, how to go about getting NASA internships as well as an introduction to the many jobs that make the space industry operate. They will learn how to navigate towards one day working in a space related career.
The students will be given a project assignment of creating a space mission and explaining it to the rest of the class. The presentations will focus on the jobs people do to make the mission possible. These presentations will not last more than 5 minutes.
Students will be assessed on their participation in class discussions as well as their individual presentations. Additionally, students who are especially keen will be provided additional resource materials and contacts to help them start on the road to a NASA internship.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
