Description
Class Experience
The goal of this class is for students to learn four basic skills ( questioning, connecting, visualizing and predicting) that will help them to develop their knowledge and understanding of what they are reading. As your child advances through school these skills will help them gain the critical thinking skills necessary to be successful when reading materials for various purposes.
Each week students will be assigned a brief exercise to practice what they have learned. The results of the exercise will be shared during the next class. Time needed to complete the homework each week should be 15 minutes.
Students will need a notebook, pencils and a highlighter (or colored pencils) during class.
Informal assessments will be used to determine progress toward class goals. This will happen by observing the students' participation and engagement while practicing the skills taught.
25 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
