Beginner Level
Welcome to the world of creativity! Do your kids love poetry but not sure how to express their hidden talents and thoughts? In this class, students will meet 4 times for 35 minutes each during the week and use their imagination. They will learn how to write poems and the first class will cover the basics such as rhyme, syllable, verse, and stanza. We will also practice writing couplets and acrostic poems. The second class we will touch base on quatrains and I will help them create their own poems. The third class will focus on the haiku poem, and the last class will be centered around the limerick, and any comments and questions they may have. We will learn the differences of each poem, and the number of syllables required in each line. They will learn that poems can be fun, humorous, or even serious. I will provide examples of poems I have written when I was younger, and a few written by my 7 year old daughter. The kids will use their creativity and writing skills to develop their own rhyming poems about their own interests. Get ready to laugh, and have fun clapping while learning! The main idea of the class is to learn together and support each other's ideas while developing writing skills associated with our own thoughts and interests. They will learn to rhyme like a poet and improve their skills through imagination. Any level of writing ability is perfectly fine. This course is for beginners. No prior knowledge is required. So let's begin with a poetic spin! I have only opened 5 slots per section so I have enough time to help each child individually with their writing. Feel free to write to me if you don't see a timing that works for you. I may be able to change the timing of a particular set of dates given. Hope to see you in class!
Learning Goals
In this class, young students will foster their creativity and imagination while learning how to write and differentiate various types of poetry. They will concentrate on the couplet, quatrain, haiku, and limerick poems.

Hello Parents and Amazing Students,
My name is Mrs. Boradia and I'm super excited to teach your child! I'm focused on connecting with him or her fulfilling their individual needs. I have 2 children, ages 14 and 11. I have volunteered in their classrooms for 5 years in elementary school. I have read children's storybooks to the class and helped the kids with arts and crafts and projects. I love it and I'm happiest with kids! I feel a sense of accomplishment when I see the light in their eyes and make them happy. I love to color, draw, read poetry, and even learn about the weather patterns! I would love to teach students these various topics, but best of all, I enjoy tutoring English. I love teaching elementary school topics and seeing children progress when they're very young. It provides a sense of accomplishment. As a child, I used to use my favorite reading books to trace their covers such as The Berenstain Bears. I started in elementary school as early as age 8, and still enjoy drawing very much. For the past year, I have been teaching Phonics and Grammar online and have tutored Language Arts, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Vocabulary, and Spelling. I would love to continue teaching it on Outschool. I am also a substitute teacher at the middle school and elementary schools in my town. I loved learning about America's states and capitals. At a young age, I also have written poetry just for fun. I would love to show your children their hidden talents through writing and expressing their thoughts. Great teachers are patient, friendly, challenging, and make sure the kids are having fun! I love working with kids and watching them grow as students! As a parent, I strive to do what is best for my children. I hope to do the same for yours and look forward to working with you! Hope to see you in class soon!
