Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Do you know how many earths would fit into the sun? How long would it take to get to Pluto? What is space junk? In this ongoing class we will learn the answers to these questions as well as learn all about stars, moons, astronauts, the planets in our solar system, and many fun space facts. We will pretend to zoom up to outer space and learn all about our amazing solar system and universe. Along with learning these awesome space facts we will also learn reading strategies, sight words, and writing skills. We will sound words out and practice writing on white boards (paper will work too if you don't have a white board.) Some of the sight words we will be learning include I, see, we, go, to, my, like, it, is, are, so, far, can, on, as, and, did, you, & the. I have put simple sentences for your child to read on slides. For example, when we are learning about the sun students will practice echo reading or reading three sentences including "The sun is a medium star. It is the closest to earth." We will practice reading and writing the word "sun" and practice reading other words in the _un family such as run, fun, and bun. Come along with us to outer space and learn to read!

This class would be best for children who know most of their letters and are interested in learning to read or children who are love learning tons of facts about space. Please message me with any questions! I look forward to meeting your wonderful learner and zooming to space with them!

I absolutely love teaching! In my class we have fun learning to read, write, and practice math skills. In addition to academic classes, I also enjoy teaching character building concepts such as perseverance, kindness, and self control. I have been a kindergarten teacher for the last 14 years and a preschool teacher for several years before earning my degree in Early Elementary and my Masters in Special Education from the University of Florida. I teach classes to help young learners build confidence, continue their curiosity of new skills and have fun learning. I love teaching children about animals and I have some fun guided reading classes where we also learn amazing animal facts. I have had training on best practices in teaching, growth mindset, character counts training, and have taken several reading endorsement classes. I use songs, silly stories, and chants to help learners learn new skills. I hope to foster a love of learning and help your child be the best they can be.

I started teaching on Outschool in 2020 and I have met the most wonderful learners these past few years. Along with teaching amazing learners on Outschool I also homeschool my son who has Down syndrome. I have also developed a reading and learning program for my son and other learners with intellectual disabilities. I have been tutoring young learners with Down syndrome with my program as well as teaching a class to a small group of learners with Ds at our local Down syndrome association once a week.

I am so excited to teach and encourage your learner! My goal is to make learning fun and give your learner the tools and practice they need to learn new skills. I love using a multi sensory approach to learning.
