US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
For this one-week self-paced class, learners will learn at their own pace facts about stars, galaxies, planets in the solar system, Asteroid and Kuiper Belts. There will be four self-paced video lessons, Google JamBoard questions that other learners can interact with, a Solar System chart project, and creating a Solar System book. **First-time Outschool learners get $20 credit towards this class using code KELSEYT2020 at checkout! How will the class go? Lesson 1: Lesson video about Stars and Galaxies, JamBoard True/False questions relating to the video lesson, and classroom discussion questions. Lesson 2: Lesson video about The Rocky Planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars), Solar System Chart project with just the Rocky Planets, and a classroom discussion question relating to space exploration. Lesson 3: Lesson video about The Gas Planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune), continuing to work on the Solar System Chart project, starting The Solar System Tracing Book creation, and a classroom discussion question about the solar system. Lesson 4: Lesson video about the Asteroid and Kuiper Belts, classroom discussion about whether Pluto is considered a planet in our solar system or not, and finishing up both Solar System chart and book projects. -We will be using Canva to watch the lesson videos on (no log-in required for the lesson videos). -We will also be using Google JamBoard for the collaborative questions (there will be a Google log-in required with a grown-up's help). -There will also be two printable worksheets that go along with creating a solar system planet chart and a solar system tracing book.

Parental Guidance
For Google JamBoard, a sign-in is required from a grown-up's help to gain access to the discussion board. It is important that an adult is present with the learner when they are logging on to ensure the safety of each learner in the class. Online safety for our learners is of the upmost importance for Outschool and for me (Ms. Kelsey) as well.

For projects, a stapler will need to be used by a grown-up, or supervised by a grown-up at the time of use when stapling solar system book pages together.
