***Note: This class is currently not offered on an ongoing basis due to low enrollment. But if there is a specific topic that you would like, I could list a specific one-time class by request. See sample topics below for examples.*** This ongoing class aims to inspire a greater appreciation of nature. Our weekly class will consist of a (1) discussion of topic, (2) simple craft, (3) short story, and (4) fun game. Weekly nature topics could span from various types of animals to anything else found in nature (see below for a list of current upcoming themes). No topic will be repeated for at least a year or more. Learners are welcome to come and go as they please. I will begin each class with a discussion of our week's topic. Discussion of the weekly topic will consist of incorporating facts while asking questions, gauging what learners already know and adding on to their current understanding. I may use short video clips or live models to further exemplify specific features or behavior of our focus. Learners will work on a simple craft pertaining to our topic each week. I will send out a list of craft supplies a week in advance of use. Supplies will include simple items you may already have at home or are easy to obtain. We may also use objects that could be collected from nature in our craft. I will read a picture book related to our topic as learners are finishing their crafts, and then we will play a simple game as a fun way to internalize concepts. We may play a variation of matching games, freeze dance, puzzles, and guessing games. I will encouraged learners to go out into nature after each class! Sample topics: Week of : Squirrels Week of : Leaves Week of : Snails Week of : Spiders Week of : Snakes Week of : Seeds Owls Worms Frogs Dragonflies Flowers Lizards Bees This schedule will be updated regularly.

I will send out a list of supplies a week before the class. Supplies include simple items you may already have at home or are easy to obtain. Example of supplies we may use in class include construction paper, scissors, glue, crayons, string, and recyclable items such as toilet paper rolls. We may also use objects that could be collected from nature in our craft, such as leaves, sticks, and nuts. At times, a choice of supplies will be provided if an item may be more difficult to obtain for some (such as: toilet paper roll OR paper cup; paper plate OR round piece of construction paper)
