This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to identify a melody in a song. Students will be able to follow the "shape" of a melody using movement or drawing (i.e. moving up when the melody goes up in pitch, moving down when the melody goes down in pitch, or staying the same when a pitch is repeated). Students will be able to write their own melodies using 8 pitches with solfege names (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do).
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will refer to short audio/video clips from "Moana" (2016, rated PG), "Coco" (2017, rated PG), and "The Lion King" (1994, rated G) using YouTube Kids and Spotify. The content will only be shared via screen/audio share, and students will not need to access the sources themselves. The Slideshow presentation was created by Teacher Carrie using the online tool Canva. The presentation will be given via screen share and students will not need access to the source on their own.
