Class Experience

It is my goal that students will see both the survivors and nonsurvivors of the Holocaust as real people, not just as numbers. Students will also develop research skills and learn Holocaust history.
I am an English teacher with a BS in ELA, a minor in psychology, and have interviewed, researched, and taught Holocaust literature for 4 years to grades 4-12. I currently teach a Holocaust elective course at my brick-and-mortar school. I have also taken Outschool diversity training.

I also have an MAE degree (which focuses on diversity and gender studies in the modern world). I have traveled extensively and worked at several schools, all of which put a high emphasis on diversity in education. I've received certificates in Crisis Prevention Training, Title IX, and have worked in women's shelters working with women and families dealing with abuse, homelessness, and substance abuse. I am qualified to teach these sensitive subjects in a professional and educational manner. I'm also extremely passionate about these topics.

Although the themes are sad, graphic details about the Holocaust are not included, nor are images that may be sensitive to students. This course is appropriate for ages 8 and up.
