I will post the Character Empathy Map in the classroom. Please come to every class with your worksheet printed and a writing tool.
We will be covering a range of topics in this class, including some that may be sensitive or controversial. I encourage parents and caregivers to review each week's topic before class to determine whether it is appropriate for their learner. I recognize that every family has different values and beliefs, and I want to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and safe in my class. If you have any questions or concerns about a particular topic, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am committed to providing a respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students.

As the instructor of this class, I want to create a safe and respectful learning environment for all students. In order to do so, I ask that parents and caregivers refrain from engaging in class discussions or expressing their opinions during class time. This allows all students to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas without fear of judgment or criticism.

Additionally, it is important to remember that empathy does not imply agreement. Empathy is about acknowledging and respecting others' feelings and experiences, even when they differ from our own. I will be asking questions and challenging viewpoints in order to help students think more deeply about the topic at hand. If anything is said that is harmful or unkind to/about a specific person or group of people, this will be addressed. It's important that everyone feels safe and respected in our class, and I'm committed to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
