Students will receive individual feedback and suggestions on their art.Class Experience
This course will be perfect for young artists who like trying new things and exploring different drawing styles and techniques, and for those who strive to achieve more creative freedom in their art. The course will also work really well for young artists who are lacking self-confidence and are seeking for a safe and supportive art community to share ideas, create art together and receive feedback on their artwork. We will begin each lesson by sharing our recent artwork and discussing some drawing ideas. We will then move on to working on an art project. Each week we will have a different style, theme or technique to explore. Sometimes the theme of the class will be chosen by the teacher, but students will also have a chance to request a specific theme or style to explore. The theme of the class will always be announced one week prior in the classroom section. In our classes we will be discovering all the important aspects of drawing, such as composition, negative space, perspective, proportions, symmetry, contrast and much more. As a teacher, I always aim to create my art classes both fun and useful, trying to give as much information along the way as possible. My goal is not to just have the students draw along, but for them to understand what they are doing and why, so that they can use this knowledge and experience in their own art. There's no limit to the themes and art styles that we are going to explore. We will be drawing people and still life, landscapes and animals. We will talk about the difference between realistic drawing and anime drawing, abstract art and impressionism. We will mostly be working with drawing graphite pencils and colored pencils. No specific experience is required to join the course, anyone who loves drawing is welcome to join! Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics from Nanjing Pedagogical University
Hello! My name is Karina, I am a professional educator, artist and linguist. At this point, I have over 12 years of experience teaching students of all ages, both in-person and on-line.
I'm also proud to be one of the top art teachers on Outschool with over 7000 learners taking my classes since July 2020.
I was born in Ukraine in a family of teachers and I always wanted to become a teacher myself, gratefully my dream came true! I started as a private language tutor in Russia back in 2011, and since then I have been traveling around the world and teaching language classes. I'm a TESOL certified instructor with a BA degree in Linguistics. For five years I worked as a full-time English and Russian language instructor for language schools in China and Japan and it was an amazing journey of discovering new languages, meeting amazing people and learning how to approach students with different sets of skills and backgrounds.
After living and working in Asia for over five years I came to Canada, where I continue to teach private and group classes, both in-person and on-line.
Other than studying linguistics, I received multiple certifications from School of Fine Arts in Moscow and have been working as a professional artist since 2015. My artwork has been exhibited and sold all around the globe. In the past few years, I managed to successfully combine my passion for visual arts with my love for working with children to create unique, fun and educational art courses. I specialize in Realistic Drawing, Creative Drawing, Anime Drawing and Watercolour painting.
The most important thing for me as a teacher is to make my students feel supported and valued. Each child has an awesome potential and discovering it together with my students is the greatest gift for me as a teacher.
I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with my students.
Thank you!
See you in the classroom!
