Description

Class Experience

Develop a basic understanding of Block Coding
Mr. James is a pianist, guitarist, and composer based in the Bay Area. He received his M.M. from Eastman School of Music and his B.M. from Manhattan School of Music. His diverse teaching background includes, heading the Music Technology department at the Eastman Community Music School, teaching for the MSM outreach program, teaching Scratch, teaching Python, teaching HTML, teaching CSS, and teaching JavaScript. He has been teaching computer programming for over 5 years to students ages 7-17.

Students are encouraged to continue developing their programs outside of class. It is recommended that students spend 1 hour a week outside of class implementing the skills learned.
Class must be taken using a computer or laptop. If students have access to two devices they may wish to use a tablet or smart phone to be in our Outschool Zoom room and their compuer or laptop for coding in Scratch.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
After the completion of the course students will receive a downloadable certificate indicating course completion.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students must have a clear understanding of computer basics. Skills required are:
- drag and drop
- copy and paste 
- double click
- open a web page
- navigating between tabs
All students will need a Scratch.org account
