Week of August 15 Topic 1: Europa and other Galileans moons of Jupiter Week of August 22 Topic 2:Titan and the moons of Saturn Week of August 29 Topic 3: Earth's moon and the moons of Mars and the small moons of the solar system. Week of September 4 Topic 4: Moons of Uranus and Neptune The classes will have a similar format to my other space classes related to NASA and Star Trek. I use use colorful images and exciting short videos to bring the classes to life. There will be plenty of time for discussion and I like to adapt the classes to the specific needs and interests of my students. We will discuss a number of upcoming NASA missions to various moons in our solar system.
Learning Goals
Students will gain a deeper understanding of the moons of our solar system including their composition, atmospheres and gravity as well as their potential for harboring life. Students will become informed about past and future explorations to these moons and be challenged to create their own moon missions.
