In this one time class students will learn about Pop Art which is a period of art that emerged in the 1950’s. There will be an introduction to the Artists of Pop Art such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Wayne Thiebaud. Art from this period will be shown on slides. There will be a discussion about Pop Art. We do a directed drawing of an ice cream cone in the style of Andy Warhol and Wayne Thiebaud. Students will be given time to color in their drawing. Student will understand the period of Pop Art. Students will learn about different Pop Artists. Students will be able to recognize art in style of Pop Art. Students will create a piece of Pop Art.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I have a K-12 Multiple Subject Credential and an MEd.
White paper, pencil, eraser, and a ruler. Students will need something to color with such as crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed informally by observing the piece of Pop Art that they created.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
