Discover what Egypt is like in the desert areas outside of the major cities! In this class, learners will get to choose their own itinerary of which incredible locations they'd like to tour in Egypt’s vast Western Desert, an area of the Sahara that lies west of the Nile River. They’ll have fun exploring sights like the pyramids of Dahshur and the wildlife-filled Fayoum Oasis. Students will also learn what it's like camping in the White Desert, a landscape so unique that it looks like the surface of another planet! We’ll also cover all of the top activities to do in the Egyptian desert (like stargazing, bird-watching and sandboarding), plus all the basics that shape daily life in the desert—geography, transportation, food and more! . This class will be lively! Students will enjoy interacting with slides and games, and the information presented will be bite-sized and memorable.
Learning Goals
Students will see all the beautiful places, people and things that can be discovered in the desert land outside of Egypt's major cities. I hope that they will learn something new that sparks their curiosity and imagination!

Teacher expertise and credentials
My dad is Egyptian, so I have always had that personal connection to the country. I also lived in Egypt from 2011-2015 working as a video journalist. One of my favorite experiences was camping many times in Egypt’s gorgeous Western Desert.
