Class Experience
In this flexible schedule class, students will have the luxury of learning and creating whenever it is convenient for them! The class offers a series of prerecorded videos that enrolled learners will have access to, as well as instructional handouts, individualized assessments of their work and the opportunity to share their work with fellow learners. The instructor, Ms. Kristen, will check in daily to answer any questions and provide feedback to all learners. Each detailed, easy to follow video will be dedicated to one art lesson. Videos are uploaded on the same day of each week and the corresponding project will be due 6 days after. The time frame for submitting lessons is flexible. The learners will have a collection of the following 9 pieces at the end of the session: Week 1: Southwest Landscapes Week 2: Victorian Homes Week 3: Navajo Weavings Week 4: Bald Eagle Acrylic Painting Week 5: Northern Lights Week 6: Abstract Moose Week 7: Lady Liberty/NYC skyline Week 8: Winslow Homer Seascapes Week 9: Georgia O'Keeffe flowers The learners will draw, paint, weave, learn about different elements and principles of art, understand and create a drawing in perspective, and learn how to successfully create a stamp for printmaking. Symmetry, architecture, and how to create depth in a drawing will also be discussed. Connections to geography and history will be emphasized in each lesson as we discuss different landmarks and areas of the country. Participation in the classroom discussion will be required to check for proper understanding and to promote a sense of community among enrolled learners.
