Class Experience

Students will engage in a hands on experiment that will create a chemical reaction in different ways. The class will begin with a connection question to engage and connect students. First, students will design multiple snowman ziplock bags faces for their experiment trials. Next, students will be given the steps for the experiment. Students will perform the experiment and stand back and watch their snowman bag explode. ( * This experiment will want to be done in a shower or outside because the vinegar and baking soda will likely spill of out the bag. ) Then, students will discuss why the snowman exploding was a chemical reaction and not a physical reaction. Finally, students will be challenged to redo the experiment trying different variable amounts and steps with their snowman bags
