Expert Physics Tutoring

I have 13 years of experience teaching teenagers to develop a lasting understanding of physics in a school setting, from conceptual physics up to AP Physics AB. Topics generally include motion, forces, energy and waves. I utilize various teaching methods to match a student's particular learning style, whether it be visual, conceptual, kinesthetic, musical or just plain repetition. I offer real world examples in order to ground the student’s understanding. I am a firm believer in "facilitating" the student's learning rather than merely instructing. To achieve this outcome, I check for understanding regularly by asking the student to explain and demonstrate as we proceed through the lesson. 

The first session is usually spent establishing a trusting relationship and learning what the student and parents want to get out of our time together. While digging into the subject matter, I diagnose where the student excels and/or is having trouble in order to plan future lessons.

Your child will be in good hands. I have a degree in chemical engineering and a California state teaching credential (expired due to recent retirement). Students I have tutored in the past have always raised their letter grade. Whether it is helping struggling students or those looking for enrichment, I have always enjoyed finding ways to build a student's understanding and appreciation for the subject while preparing them for the future.
