Executive functioning skills like organization, time management, procrastination, self-control, emotional regulation –these challenges can be tricky to navigate, not just for our children, but for everyone involved in their support system, including parents, teachers, family, and friends. This class is here to offer some support for the area of emotional regulation. It’s a space where your child can learn, discuss and practice specific areas of emotional regulation to provide some self-awareness, insight and practical life skills they can apply in their life. Improving emotional regulation can take time, effort, and lots of support from classes like this and especially from parents and other adults in the child's life. This class is designed to provide some of that support, helping your child build essential skills for life. It’s one more step toward their future success and well-being. My lessons in this course include a structured format of each class so that students know what to expect. Each class, we begin with an overview of what we will be learning. Many of the lessons include riddles as a fun way to get the brain thinking flexibly! My puppets are often popping in and out of our lessons to add their insights and keep things interesting. We also practice coping strategies and techniques together, like taking deep breaths and mindfulness exercises. Each lesson, students will have assignments that are presented during the lesson. The assignments are all presented as "comments" because they involve the student finding the corresponding post in the classroom and adding their answer as a comment. These assignments may take between 5-15 minutes for each lesson. I have structured each class to be fun and engaging so that your learner stays entertained while they are learning important concepts to apply to their life. I also provide opportunities for reflection to help them process these concepts more deeply.
