Class experience
Regular journal writing is a great way to get kids in the habit of writing, but the prompts need to be inspiring to make it fun! Creative writing prompts will help learners expand their writing skills while sparking their imaginations at the same time. We will meet one day a week for an educational mini lesson, sight word movement game, followed by independent writing time where learners will respond to a themed writing prompt. The theme will be based off of the current month and skills...
Students will develop basic writing skills- sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling and penmanship Use “invented spelling” or write down the sounds they hear in words Write from left to right on the paper Drawing and labeling pictures
I have a degree in Elementary Education (K-6). I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade in a public school setting, as well as, over 200 classes on Outschool!
-A printable handout(s) for students will be provided each week 24 hrs. prior to class. -Students will need something to write with (pencil, map pencils, AND/OR crayons). -Students will occasionally need a glue stick and/or scissors: The glue stick will dry faster and is recommended. -Draw and Write Journal: This is optional but I highly recommend as a way to keep the weekly writing together in one place. Link provided below: https://www.amazon.com/Lakeshore-Learning-Materials-SG_B004ZAKSPS_US-Journal/dp/B004ZAKSPS *An alternative printable will always be provided if you choose not to order the journal :)
Parents can assist with gathering materials before class if needed. Also, since this class is intended for young learners, it is recommended that the parent sits nearby and/or teach your child to push the UNMUTE/MUTE button. This will cut down on any unwanted background noise and allow the class to run as smooth as possible! Safety during Movement Break: Students will need space to jump! Please be aware of potential hazards (including, but not limited to, needing an open workout space, proper footwear, a water bottle if needed, and adequate stretching beforehand) as well as injuries that can occur if not properly supervised. Parental Guidance is required for the use of scissors.
