Welcome to Science Class! We will complete 4 simple hands on science experiments that will leave you amazed! Please feel free to not want to complete each one. The first experiment we will see water travel from one cup to another. We will learn colors and what happens when 2 colors mix and creates a new color. The second experiment we will see how colors move and create different patterns when they interact with dish soap, we will then take a toothpick and create different swirls. The...
Students will learn simple colors and what colors we get when we mix them together. Students will learn how an oil breaks down fat.
First experiment _____________ 3 empty glasses (small mason jars will be great) (we will fill 2 of them with water) Water Liquid Food coloring (2 different colors) Paper towels: Must be able to fold them long ways Second experiment _______________ A bowl ½ cup of milk or enough to fill the bottom of the bowl ( Lactaid milk will not work ) Dish soap Cotton swab or toothpick Food Coloring liquid, more than one color Third experiment _____________ 1 bar of Ivory soap Microwave It MUST be Ivory Bar Soap, no other brand will work Forth experiment ______________ A glass plate, glass bowl, or picture glass frame Dry erase marker Water
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents will need to be involved to help their learner for all of these experiments. Using the microwave is dangerous and parental guidance is needed for that. You can opt not to participate in this one. The first experiments results will likely show after class since it does take some time. Also the dry erase marker experiment may or may not work all the time. Practice is key. Ivory soap is the only soap we can use for this experiment.
