Learn About Electricity With Escape Rooms!

This fun class is run over eight weeks, learners will have fun and learn about electricity and circuits.

Each week will consist of a video lesson which the children can watch to understand that lesson’s learning point, they will then use the knowledge they have gained to take part in online escape room games. They will use the OutSchool classroom to support each other and ask for help and clarification. 

While this class does not meet live, the children will be able to ask questions and participate as much as they feel comfortable with.  

Week 1: This week we will start off by looking at conductors and insulators, identifying materials as conductors or insulator, how this works and the different uses for materials. The class will watch the learning video and then participate in an online escape room which practices the skills we have learnt.

Week 2: Week 2 is about the circuits and symbols. We will cover; cell, bulb, ammeter, voltmeter, resistor, switch and diode. It is important for learners to develop an understanding of the parts of a circuit. We will also look at circuits and how they can be completed. After the learning the students will have another escape room to support their learning.

Week 3: This week we will learn about current and voltage. 

Week 4: Week 4 focuses on resistance and the equations for this. As with previous weeks, the learners will again be given an escape room to demonstrate their knowledge

Weeks 5 & 6: We will be covering power and wires in these weeks to build toward an understanding of  how electricity travels and it harnessed.

Week 7: This week we will learn about kilowatts and meter readings. The learners will again be given tan escape room to demonstrate their knowledge.

Week 8: In our final week we will look at the wiring in the home and how electrical appliances are wired. The learners will see practical examples and complete a final escape room to practice the things we have learnt.
