This class could be taken independently but part of a 4-part series. How often are you asked what do you want to be when you grow up and thought "How am I suppose to know?" This class will help you figure out what are your choices? This class will help you to understand the different factors that help you choose a career path. Tweens are often exposed to professionals but lack the skills to evaluate their preferences and potential. This class will introduce the idea of taking thoughtful career assessments, evaluating the results, and responsibly researching careers including their growth potential, needed-education, and lifestyle connections. As a teacher, I prioritize having a full class discussion and introducing students to reputable resources.
Learning Goals
1) To leverage their interests and talents to explore potential career interests.
2) To seek out tools to explore potential career interests.
3) To utilize reputable interests to learn about career routes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Ms. Robin.
I teach classes that promote career awareness for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. I am also a professional resume writer who teaches classes on resume writing, communication and social media as well as classes that improve self-esteem and motivation.
Career awareness can motivate students with their school work by providing direction. Too often, students enter college without a sense of career goals and would benefit from investigating those options earlier.
I became a school counselor because I understood the importance of linking secondary education to career education. As I shifted to resume writing, I learned the value of empowering people to own and write their own narratives.
A fun fact is that my family (which includes my husband and two sons) has lived in 3 “M” states; Minnesota, Missouri, and Massachusetts. We think Michigan may be next!
