Microsoft Excel is the most common spreadsheet tool in use today. With its abilities, users can unlock the potential of their data to identify patterns, solve complex formulas, create visual representation of data and so much more. In today's world, most companies are looking for candidates that have a basic grasp of the program and its uses. Let's start today! After introductions, we will discuss Microsoft Excel as a spreadsheet tool, the reasons and when to use a spreadsheet tool, and the basic functions available inside Microsoft Excel. Students are expected to be engaged and together we will conceptualize the uses of a spreadsheet in basic functions of business, research, data collection and personal use.
Learning Goals
Students will focus on the below concepts utilizing the Excel program to fully grasp its abilities:
* What is Excel, why do we use it?
* How is Excel used by different professions?
* What is a row, what is a column, what is a cell, what is a range?
* How do I add a row or a column?
* How do I print data already created?
* How do I edit data already created?
* What is the formula bar for?
* What is the ribbon and what is it for?
* How do I use Worksheet views?

Supply List
Instructor will provide an excel file for use during course. Once the classroom has been entered, students can download the file (in blue link below). Learners must have Microsoft Excel installed and open on their computers during course. While Google Spreadsheets does many of the same functions as Excel, it is NOT recommended to utilize that program during this course.
