Evolution and Comparative Anatomy: How Do Animals Share Body Structures?

Class
Shaelynn Settanni, B.S. Biology
Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(49)
In this one-time course, students will learn how different animals can share anatomy and why, how we compare those structures, and how comparative anatomy is used to help support shared ancestry of living things.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will gain a basic understanding of comparative anatomy, the different ways we compare structures, and how we use these similarities and differences to have a better understanding of shared ancestry. They will also learn how different animals have adapted based on their environments to survive, and what happens when their adaptations no longer help. The information given in this course will allow students to have a better grasp of evolution and how we can use anatomy to show how related to other species we are.
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Biology and Animal Sciences, focusing on anatomy, behavior, wildlife, and environmental study all 4 years.
I will be supplying slides for the game we play, nothing is needed on the students end!
There will be a picture or two of animal and human embryos, as we will briefly go over how we compare them in class, as well as skeletal images and reference photos.
