Class Experience

(Please note: This class follows the same curriculum as my ongoing "Everything You Need to Know About Drawing" class but learners sign up for 4 weeks rather than an ongoing subscription. At the end of 4 weeks, a new block of 4 classes will run with a new set of drawing activities.)

Over 4 weeks, we will explore different aspects of drawing in order to build a range of skills. I am a qualified art teacher with over 13 years experience and I love to help students develop their abilities! All my drawing exercises are tried and tested and have helped thousands of children and adults to improve their drawing skills.

Topics will include use of line, tone, shape, perspective and drawing from observation. Using a second camera showing my live demonstration I will explain each technique, showing clearly how different effects can be achieved. Students will be able to ask questions and then practise what they have learned while I give encouraging feedback and tips for progressing further. Each week will be a standalone exercise. Topics will be revisited to help students develop their understanding further but each exercise and so each class, will be different. Over a few sessions, participants will learn how to "see" their subjects in a new way that will help them tackle drawing anything with confidence.

No experience is necessary and this class is very suitable for beginner artists. (However, learners who really lack confidence in art may wish to book onto one of my "Build Art Skills and Confidence" class first as a starting point.)

Learners will need a supply of paper - ideally an A4 sketchbook, a 3b or 4b pencil, a black ball point pen, an eraser and pencil sharpener.

Below is a rough guide of topics to be covered:

Week beginning 1st March: Using simple shapes to draw tricky things

Week beginning 8th March: Cross-hatching

Week beginning 15th March: Facial proportions

Week beginning 22nd March: Human figure
