Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
Through live video lessons we will work to:

 	-Understand and identify number sequencing (before, between and after) up to 100.
 	-Recognize ordinal position and numbers.
 	-Count by 1s to 100 while understanding the relationship a number has with one another (e.g., greater than and less than).
 	-Gain a strong foundation for place value by working with tens and ones.
 	-Understand math symbols (e.g., plus sign and equal sign) along with math expressions (e.g., 1 + 2 ).
 	-Develop the conceptual understanding of addition - creating new numbers.
        - Learn to count by 2s.
	-Learn to compose and decompose numbers within 10 (e.g., 4 + 3 = 7 and 7 = 4 + 3).
 	-Develop number sense by the use of numbers in different ways and situations.
 	-Make sense of word problems and develop the skill to solve for the unknown number.
 	-Learn and apply math rules to solve basic addition and subtraction problems.
 	-Understand and solve number sentences (e.g., 2 + 3 = 5 ) and vertical math.
 	-Apply different techniques to comprehend, interpret, evaluate, and solve math problems.
 	-Practice Counting by 5s.
        - Use tally marks
        - Explore two dimensional shapes (pentagon, hexagon, parallelogram, trapezoid)
        -Count money
        - Identify three dimensional shapes (cube, cone, pyramid, sphere, cylinder, triangular prism, rectangular prism
        - Tell time and use a calendar

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Parental Guidance is required for the use of scissors and glue.
Supply List
Hand-outs will be provided each week. Please also provide them with standard supplies such as paper or a white erase board, crayons, child friendly scissors, a glue stick, 20 counters (actual counters, pieces of cereal, anything small and non-hazardous) and a writing utensil. The only standard for each class will be something to write with, something to write on and counters. All other supplies needs for each lesson will be communicated weekly.

Supplies for Fun Fridays are optional and will be kept to a minimal. However, if you are willing to provide materials for projects it will allow more a tangible, real world and fun experience with Math!
