Welcome to Eurythmics! ↓ ☀️ Please see below for summer 2023 dates and themes ☀️ ↓ No, this is NOT a class about the British pop duo. Eurhythmics is a pedagogical method that encourages children to experience their environment with all senses while promoting their individual expressive powers. To gain this holistic experience, the young students explore interactions between music and movement by engaging in various forms of play. 𝙄𝙣 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨: 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙥𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙞 𝙤𝙛 𝙜𝙮𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮! 🎭 *While this is an ongoing class to make attending flexible, Eurhythmics has the character of an accumulative semester course. In case you drop in, I will send you a list with supplies (simple instruments, toys) to bring for your young learner to have the best class experience.* 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 In a typical class, we will start on the floor in a circle-time setting to greet each other and discuss the theme of the class. We proceed by warming our bodies and singing a song. We then continue with various games in accordance with the class topic. The class transitions into an experimental/instructed phase of dance and/or body movement, accompanied by music, sound or rhythm. Next we improvise and play with our materials and instruments. To end the class, students engage in a relaxation activity such as a magical journey, a drawing or a listening task. Students are invited to share their experiences throughout the duration class. 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 This class is based on movement. It is recommended that the students participate in an open, uncluttered space free of possible hazards. Sometimes students might be directed to explore the whole room ("walk to all corners of your room.") but are generally advised to carry out movement on and around a mat. A yoga or exercise mat would be great to work on, as well as the children wearing ballet shoes or non-slip socks. Art projects are conducted on the floor, as well, and an exercise mat would protect the underlying floor. 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 Every class consists of various games and exercises, which means that students go through several transitions. Transition times are accompanied by acoustic signals which are introduced to the students at the beginning of the class. I expect this will be a learning process for all involved, especially at the start of the course. In this course, the students will: -learn rhymes, songs, finger-plays, and dances -perform various forms of movement and locomotion -play language and sensorimotor games -experiment with and play music on simple instruments -experiment with materials having different sensory properties -experience phases of relaxation and quiet -act out and perform songs, rhymes, and sound tales -improvise with instruments, dance and other body movement. ☀️ Summer 2023 times and themes ☀️ Every second Thursday, 12.00 am - 12.40 am ET, starting July 6 *5 meetings* Week 1 - Week of July 1 - Savannah adventure Week 2 - July 15 - A day at the ocean Week 3 - July 29 - Traveling to outer space Week 4 - August 12 - Working with newspapers Week 5 - August 19 - Dogs Week 6 - August 26 -Balloons Activities are not limited to the above description.
